The Xīnhuá zìdiǎn (, literally "new China character dictionary") is the most popular modern Chinese dictionary. Supported by the Linguistics Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, it has become the standard dictionary for Simplified Chinese characters and pinyin romanization.
